Edinburgh Blues Club

The major force behind promoting blues in Edinburgh , is The Edinburgh Blues Club. The Ed

inburgh Blues Club is a Social Enterprise established in January 2014 to harness support for regular blues events in Edinburgh. The club provides at least a monthly blues event, featuring touring blues acts from the UK and beyond, with support from the finest local blues artists.

The Edinburgh Blues Club features a diverse range of styles with a strong blues influence with varying elements of rock, soul, jazz, funk, country and folk. Every show is different.

The club is now the biggest blues club in Scotland and the only one to host international acts. While our shows are on public sale through various outlets, membership of the Edinburgh Blues Club is available for £10 per month. This regular payment covers entry to all our hosted shows, providing a considerable saving for regular attendees.

Members have an influence on future artists' bookings and benefit from price reductions for additional tickets to both our shows and other events in the city on sale at our shows.

Their main venue is at the Voodoo Rooms, a centrally located venue featuring a main ballroom with a capacity of up to 170 and a smaller "speakeasy" for more intimate shows. The also have a very vibrant bar and restaurant should you wish to have a meal before a gig.

La Belle Angele have also been used for larger shows as the need arises.

Here at Bannermans we’re very proud of how much we do to support live music around Edinburgh. Not only do we provide everything a band could possibly need for a show here, we go that extra bit further with our yearly compilation albums.

It works like this – bands that have proven themselves as exceptional live acts time and again on our stage are offered the chance to have one of their tracks put onto our CD. And here’s the best bit – it doesn’t cost the bands anything, and the CD’s are given out for free.

That’s right – free.

We get 5000 copies printed, and anyone who comes into the bar can grab one. They’re also given out at student fairs, showcase nights, record shops, and by flyer staff on the street. This is a fantastic way of promoting local bands, and giving something back to the scene that thrives around Edinburgh. So have a listen to the previous albums on the page – we’re sure you’ll find something to your taste. And who knows…you might just discover your new favourite band!

Blues at the Jazz Bar

What makes this really cool, multiple award-winning basement music venue so universally appealing is its unique daily mix of excellent, multi-genre live music, well-presented in a stylish but non-trendy environment, with great bar service, amid an ever-changing creative buzz.

Since we opened in 2005, our music programme has developed into a fantastic musical genre-mix, making the venue hugely popular with a diverse range of audiences. About one third of what goes on here is ‘Jazz’ of some kind, another one third is Acoustic/Blues/Roots, the remaining one third being Funk/Soul/Electric. So every single day there are multiple gigs of varying style happening (that’s 3-5 gigs a day – EVERY day!), but always with extremely high quality.

And with SIX major awards sitting on our trophies shelf, you can trust that you’ll be hearing excellent music, in a correspondingly first-class environment.

Check the Programme Listings before you drop in, and you’ll see what musical genre will be onstage at any time (several every day!)
Please note that as we have ever-changing bands on, with constantly shifting audiences, we can’t reserve seating or tables for any events.

There is normally a small entry charge for most gigs, and your door money GOES TO THE MUSICIANS, none to the venue. For that reason, we can’t take cards at the door, it has to be CASH ONLY. There are many bank cash ATM machines nearby.
